Pterodactyls Come to Windsor

Korda Artistic Productions is eagerly anticipating its next show, the dark comedy Pterodactyls by Nicky Silver.

At KordaZone:

Described by some as a mix of Edward Albee, Christopher Durang, Moss Hart, and Thornton Wilder, Pterodactyls tells the story of the Duncans: Grace and Arthur, their children Emma and Todd, and Emma's fiance Tommy. When Todd returns home after five years' absence and announces that he has AIDS, the rest of the family plunges deeper into the denial in which they already live. Emma has no memories, at all, of just about anything; Grace frantically begins party planning; and Arthur spends more time than usual at the bank where he works. Tommy becomes the family's unlikely maid and falls in love with Todd, and Todd himself becomes obsessed with the bones he's discovered in the back yard.

Pterodactyls was the winner of the 1994 Oppenheimer Award and the Kesselring Award, and was nominated for both the Drama Desk and the Outer Critic's Circle awards. It is a dark mixture of the comic, the tragic and the prophetic, as one family and the human race sink inevitably and irresistibly into the cold dark end of the world. Silver combines fast-paced dialogue, screwball comedy and slapstick with a deeper, more ominous message.

Directed by Jeff Marontate, and featuring Korda regulars Christopher Lawrence-Menard as Todd and Tracey Atin as Grace; Fay Lynn and Bob Godden as Emma and Arthur, and Korda newcomer Joseph Brosnan as Tommy.
