The Hobbit Artistic Committee

Jeff Marontate
Director
Jeff is honoured and excited to have recently been named Resident Director of Korda Productions, and proud to have directed their production of The Rocky Horror Show. He hopes that his future with Korda will permit him to continue to grow as an artist, and to expand his directorial repertoire which includes plays by such authors as Shakespeare, Moliere, Aristophanes, Gilbert & Sullivan and Sheridan. In addition to directing, Jeff is a designer and illustrator, and continues to teach Drama and English at Massey Secondary School. The Hobbit is his second production aimed at a family audience; it is also his second collaboration with composer Robert Godden (their first being A Midsummer Night's Dream for Sun Parlour Players in 1994). His next assignment for Korda will be Psycho Beach Party in October 2004.

Tracey Atin
Executive Producer
Tracey is a versatile and busy singer and actor as well as the producer and writer of many revues, shows and children's musicals. With her extensive experience in theatre and her knowledge of the local arts community, Tracey has pulled together a team of the most creative and talented artists in the Windsor area for our production of the legendary and magical tale of The Hobbit.

Robert Godden
Composer
Bob Godden was very pleased to have the opportunity to put Tolkien's words in The Hobbit to music for Korda's production. Son of classical pianist and composer Reginald Godden, Bob is a retired math teacher from General Amherst and Leamington High Schools. He has been involved in many ways in the musical and theatrical scene in Windsor and Essex County, with the Sun Parlour Players, UMEI Players, Windsor Light Opera, The Purple Theatre Company, Kingsville Repertory Players, the musical group Circle Game, and as frequent guitar accompanist for wife Tracey Atin. He has composed music for his math classes, for Circle Game songs, for the family musicals Fearless Frieda and the Giant and Second Banana, and for Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. Thanks to Tracey and Jeff for the encouragement.

Beth Lyster
Stage Manager
Following on the heels of The Rocky Horror Show, Beth enthusiastically welcomes this opportunity to re-team with Korda Productions. A graduate of the University of Windsor (Honours Drama/Communication Studies), she is thrilled to be employed once again in the exciting field of actor wrangling, uhm, stage management. Frequently one to shy away from a challenge, Beth contentedly expresses no fear of spiders but struggles with a rather nasty phobia of unpedicured feet (especially of the hairy Hobbit variety). Her previous endeavours include: L'il Abner (Stage Manager), Twelfth Night (Stage Manager), and The Emperor's New Clothes (Cast). Out of the booth, Ms. Lyster coordinates support and speakers for Victim Services of Windsor-Essex County.

Kelly Ridley
Costume Designer
Kelly Ridley grew up in the theatre - literally; her father was a director. She has been constructing historical reproduction costume for fifteen years so it was pretty well inevitable that she would end up in theatrical costuming. This is Kelly's first show and her work displays her amazing creativity and skill. We anticipate great things from Kelly in the future. Korda Productions is fortunate to have discovered her.

Raven Ridley
Properties Master
I am a self taught artisian, who has been lucky enough to have experiences such as being instructed by an Inuit Artist and trained by a Master Bladesmith. Over the last fifteen years I have worked with just about ever material from bone to glass and made contemporary jewelry to historically accurate weapons. I have been involved in The Society for Creative Anachronism for over thirteen years, two years as London's head of Arts and Science. I enjoy the challenge of knowing what is needed and wanted for the end result and figuring out how to achieve it.

Keith Bolohan
Masks, Puppetry & Makeup
I have been working in the make-up and special effect field for over 7 years. I graduated from Complections Inc. in '96 and have worked on film, stage and music video. Goblins and demon type creatures are my favorite to work on. I plan on taking my career to every challenging level possible.

Chad Croteau
Lighting Designer & Technical Director
Chad has been a theatre junkie ever since he saw The Phantom of the Opera in grade 4. He quickly found that his niche was backstage during performances and gradually became interested in design. After serving as an assistant lighting designer for a high school production in grade 9, he was hooked. Since then, he has done design work with École Secondaire l'Essor, École Secondaire E.J. Lajeunessse, Theatre Windsor, the University Players at the University of Windsor, Rose City Rising Stars, and the Windsor Light Opera Association. Chad is excited to be the designer of Korda Productions' production of The Hobbit and he hopes to have the opportunity to design again for them in the future.

David Court
Scenic Designer
David graduated from the University of Windsor with a B.A. honours degree in Dramatic Art. Since then, he has worked as a scenic designer and scenic artist for the University Players. David also works as a freelance designer for the Capitol Theatre, Chrysler Theatre, Cogeco Cable, Windsor Theatre Festival and now Korda Productions.

Davydd Cook
Fight Instructor & Choreographer
Mr. Cook has spent over a quarter of his life in the theatre, but he only found his way into it after taking a course in theatrical swordplay, taught by Joey Ouellette of Windsor's Purple Theatre Company. Since then, his interest in and respect for the martial arts and his love of stagecraft have come together on several occasions, as he has choreographed and directed fights for many Purple Theatre productions and youth classes. When he's not arming your children, he's actually a pretty nice guy. Though daunting, The Hobbit's Battle of Five Armies has given him the chance to work on an entirely new scale: at once challenging, exciting and rewarding. He hopes you'll agree.

Danielle Ramsten
Marketing & Publicity
Danielle is a graduate of the Journalism and New Media program at St. Clair College. She has over 5 years of experience in the marketing and public relations field. Coming from this background she has experienced both sides of the microphone. She has worked in marketing positions in the real estate and retail fields, but her true passion is working with non-profit groups.
